Pawa Speed Sports approached us as an early stage London-based streetwear brand with extraordinary potential. Founded by designers and illustrators George Pitassi and Luc Szivo who previously worked with respected brands like Aries, Maharishi, and Garbstore, Pawa had developed a unique aesthetic combining Japanese street racing culture with British subcultures.
Their products featured bold, graphic-heavy designs with meticulous attention to quality and detail. Despite having exceptional product design and a clear vision, they needed a digital platform that would showcase their unique collection while providing the robust Ecommerce functionality necessary for a growing fashion brand.
We began with comprehensive discovery sessions where George and Luc shared their vision and long-term strategic business plan. Having worked with Pawa previously, we had valuable insights into their aesthetic preferences and business goals which sped up the usually extensive discovery phase.
After careful consideration of various Ecommerce platforms including Webflow and WooCommerce, our developer team collectively decided on Shopify as the chosen platform of choice. Although this tech stack had a higher initial starting costs, it offered industry-leading functionality and scalability essential for Pawa's ambitious growth plans.
Drawing inspiration from established streetwear brands like Palace Skateboards, BAPE, and Maharishi, we agreed on an intentionally minimalist design approach for the site. The website would provide a clean, uncluttered canvas where the clothing could "breathe" and essentially speak for itself, without distracting elements competing for attention.
While the front-end design embraced elegant simplicity, the backend functionality was anything but basic:
The back-end was meticulously configured to ensure that the founders could easily manage day-to-day operations themselves. This self-sufficiency was crucial for a small team with limited resources but ambitious growth plans.
The project exceeded expectations, providing a solid foundation for Pawa's impressive trajectory. Within just a few years, they expanded beyond direct-to-consumer sales to secure placement in prestigious retailers including END Clothing, GARB Store, Flatspot, and Working Class Heroes to name a few.
The website's intentionally minimal design accomplished exactly what it set out to do: let Pawa's distinctive aesthetic take centre-stage while providing a frictionless shopping experiences for their growing customer base.
Our relationship with Pawa continues to flourish through ongoing support. We implement regular updates to the site, manage search engine optimisation, and run targeted digital pay-per-click advertising campaigns through a monthly retainer arrangement.
We're thrilled to see Pawa's remarkable success and look forward to supporting their continued growth in the years ahead. Projects like this, watching innovative brands achieve their potential with the digital platforms we've crafted for them are EXACTLY why we love what we do!
Heavily inspired by British and Japanese labels of the early 2000’s, Pawa℗ is quietly carving its own lane in the industry. Combining a playful, graphic heavy foundation with quality and attention to detail in every piece.
