Our Story
How things started
Modal, formerly known as Influx Studios, was founded in 2015 by Joe Ratcliffe and Jamie Goodson, two old school friends who recognised a significant gap in the market for a cutting-edge agency based in the heart of Manchester.
Unlike many agencies operating at the time, they saw the need for a more forward-thinking approach. The tech industry seemed to be evolving more quickly than most agencies could keep up with. Much of the work they encountered whilst working at various agencies, didn’t reflect the value that clients were paying.

The new agency model
We focused on maintaining a smaller, more agile core team with greater expertise and industry-leading technical know-how. It appeared that the bigger the agency, the lower the quality of output, as a general rule of thumb. While travelling the world and seeing how other businesses operated in America, Canada, Singapore, and South Korea, it became apparent there was a better way to do things.
